  • Captain Marvel 2: The Marvels (2023)

Reposting a thread, erased by the server crash.

The sequel is eyeing a 2022 release date. Megan McDonnell, a writer on WandaVision, have been tapped to write the screenplay.

Minor speculation, on my part, but I'm guessing that they'll introduce Hulkling in this movie. After all, it looks like they're building up to Young Avengers. And this seems like the most logical place to introduce him (contrary to his name, "Hulkling" have nothing to do with the Hulk), being the son of Mar-Vell.

The movie is set for a July 8, 2022 release (source: CBR).

Rewatched the first movie. Hoping that they'll include Annette Bening, in some capacity, in the sequel. There are many ways that she could return: as the Supreme Intelligence. As Mar-Vell in flashbacks or, if I'm right and they introduce Hulkling (her son) in the second movie, she could appear to him as part of an interactive computer message (that she created before her death). Of course, as Marvel loves doing fake deaths, she could suddenly turn out to still be alive.

Suspected that Kamala Khan would be appearing in this one.

With the announcement that America Chavez will be appearing in Multiverse of Madness (Wiccan and Speed seemingly introduced in Wandavision. Kate Bishop introduced in Hawkeye. Cassie Lang is already introduced), I truly suspect that Hulkling will be introduced in this movie.

I'm guessing that Zawe Ashton will play Karla Sofen/Moonstone. It would work with the title, as Sofen's gone by many aliases over the years. Among them: Ms. Marvel. You know, you've got Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel), Monica Rambeau (once known as Captain Marvel in the comics), Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel), and Karla Sofen (Meteorite/Moonstone/Ms. Marvel).

South Korean actor Park Seo Joon reportedly joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Phase 5 as Captain Marvel's alien husband, Prince Yan.

South Korean actor Park Seo Joon has reportedly joined the cast of The Marvels.

According to Allkpop, Park will portray Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel's husband Prince Yan, the leader of a musical planet where everyone living there must sing to communicate with one another, in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe installment. In Marvel Comics, Yan was the Prince of Aladna, a planet where every inhabitant speaks in rhymes, and first appeared in 2014's Captain Marvel #9.
Okay, that could get slightly irritating.

Disney releases the first official synopsis for the upcoming MCU blockbuster The Marvels, teasing an adventure with significant cosmic repercussions.

The synopsis for The Marvels teases a cosmic adventure that will push Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan to their breaking points.

Per Captain Marvel News on Twitter, the brief description of the plot confirms that the titular squad of The Marvels will need to learn to work together in order to take on an immensely powerful threat. "Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence," reads the synopsis. "But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destablized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel and Carol's estranged niece Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team-up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as 'The Marvels.'"

As for the original Captain Marvel, actor Brie Larson revealed that The Marvels will be focusing on some aspects of the character that were too dark to include in an origin story. "Now, it’s digging into some more of the complexities, that there’s much more to her than that," Larson said. "There are parts that are not so great about her, that we can see a hero is not being the person that makes every right decision all the time."

Looks like Quantumania won't be Disney's biggest MCU flop for 2023.
