It was weird when FitzSimmons were all talking about how much they've been through with Skye... they haven't known her for that long, have they?

You don't always have to know someone very long, to become close with them. The agents who work with Coulson face death every day, and that need to rely on one another would create an emotional bond. Just ask real-world people like military soldiers, after their very first firefight together.

FitzSimmons are used to being in there lab and not going out on location much. Spending a month with Skye on a plane for them is there idea of being through a lot with someone. They have also been through life and death situations with Skye. They obvious felt they had a strong bond with her.

I agree that it's slightly odd, but I give them a pass because they have been through life and death situations together. People also do say silly things sometimes.
