Faora gives powers to Lois after possessed his body but....at the end of season 5 was the reverse! Brainiac with the serum gives power to Lex to prepare for Zod, which has no powers.

Damn, monkey writers. The last three season have no continuity, they destroyed this show.

One could argue that the serum was about sustainability. Just take the Bizarro!Phantom for example. A human body could not host him for too long before giving out and he had to inhabit a new body.

Maybe the same would have happened to Lois if Clark hadn't zapped Faora back to the Zone.

The serum Brainiac developed would have made it possible for Zod to remain in Lex' body indefinetely

That other Zoner, in Fallout, managed to sustain a host, for weeks. So, I don't think sustainability was the reason, Brainiac injected Lex with the serum.

A plausable explaination, for why Lex had to be given powers, is that Brainiac needed Clark to be put in a situation, where he could only stop Lex or him, with the dagger (knowing Clark would in all likelyhood try and use it against him, rather than Lex). Which was connected to the Fortress, allowing Brainiac to connect to it and release Zod.

        theories,theories..just theories...this is the problem.
ok, we are smart, but the writers not. if it was really so...Caroline Dries, would give the answer on this episode to avoid a incongruence... but ofcourse it did not happen.
