Tess was a hero

Tess was a hero but they could have achieved the same result differently which wouldn't have been so disrespectful to Smallville's premise and Lex's character.

They should have done it like it was done in "The OMAC Project":
[SPOILER]Blue Beetle discovers Maxwell Lord is a traitor and that he has secretly gathered every information about superheroes...names, powers & weaknesses, associates. Beetle is offered to join Lord but he refuses. Maxwell shoots Beetle and discovers Ted has erased all the files about everyone, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman etc. Years of research lost.[/SPOILER]

This could have been achieved with Tess in the Finale. Lex would have a database he's been updating since his return after S7's "Arctic". JLA, JSA, all heroes and information. IMO, would have worked a lot better than what they actually ended up doing.

I actually agree with this. The way they went about it seemed like an weak attempt at resetting the status quo or something.
