Wasn't TVD the highest rated show from last year? I believe so.

Also, 3.4 is great for the CW. Look at the low ratings Gossip Girl and OTH get (under 2 million).

WOW! Gossip Girl got under 2mil??? I thought that was CWs golden show. Their top show. Seems TVD did really good then.

GG has always had more buzz than ratings, but yeah it really dipped last year. Not sure how the premiere did last night.

Last year TVD was the #1 scripted series on the CW.

The premiere got under 2 million. However, the CW states that they realize they get more online veiwers. Also, their actors/actresses are quite popular in movies, gossip, and other TV shows. Remember their slogan? "TV to Talk About."

Not to mention many of the shows have huge cult followings.
