I agree with the second part about Sarah being the author of her own heartache. But, Chuck's appeal to her is that he is different, he is in the spy world but keeps his heart pure despite being rather great at it even without the skill set.
Chuck's desire for normalcy is the thing that made Sarah fall head over heels for him. I don't really see the chemistry in Shaw and Sarah, so I am not really getting how that started or where it's headed.
