The original had 19 episodes before it was cancelled. If this new show
can't reach 20 episodes does that mean the original is superior? I don't
see the ratings improving or stabilizing without resembling the original
a bit more. I hope it doesn't take two years to get a full resistance,
some more action, and perhaps a "Los Angeles Medical Center"-type
revealing of the Visitors to the world. If they wait too long for this
to pick up, they could bore their audience away.

Actually I would up the ante and say new V would have to do 30 episodes to equal screentime of the original. When you add in the 2 Mini's thats 10 more hours.

I was actually cutting the new V a little slack. I was counting the 2 original
mini-series as intros for each series. If I really wanted to be specific, I could
count this first pod of four to be equivalent to the original mini-series since
it's covering most of what the original series was about. Visitor introduction,
formation of the resistance, getting to know the characters, etc.

If they really wanted to experiment, perhaps, bring in Kenneth Johnson
for a four-episode pod to write the new characters and see if he could
improve on it. It might be refreshing to see his take on the new show.

Bringing in original cast members for guest shots is imperative, this will
keep the fans of the original show intact.

If V does not do well in the ratings, it is only a reflection of our civilization that because a show does not have immorality and sex flaunted at you and gross violence and blood and gore and filthy language, the viewers and critics will not rate it good. That is the problem. Battlestar Galatica, the new series was ruined by all the crap and filth. It would have been good without all the sex etc, just as it was.
