  • Sylar can fly? WTF?!

Does anyone else see that they really messed up here? Sylar can't fly, because he never took Nathan's power, he died before he could. This is a major MESS up there. Other than that, it was a good episode IMO. Anyone else agree?

[MOD EDIT] hell didnt notice with him looking like nathan and allbit stupid but you could probably put it down to empathy, sylar does think hes nathan for a long time now so he should be able to fly

Same way he got Elle's power probably. The hard way in finding out how they work by getting to know them and he's had plenty of time to get to know Nathan by thinking he's him and getting all his memories.

Sylar took nathan's power during their fight in last seasons finale. You clearly see him flying back into the room and hear the familar sound effect associated with this power.

He kinda of floated down during that fight - could have been TK or could have been the real deal due to the fact that he knew Nathan so well even by then because of the memories he stole to sock puppet Nathan to get the President at the time.

TK and Flight each have a different sound effect when used. His floating used the Flight sound effect. It's the studio's way of subliminally telling you what power is being used because you should reckonize the sound it makes.

Yeah i flipped about that too.

He had an ability that let him shoot straight up the very first time we met him, but after that we never saw that type of ability in him so I/we assumed it was him using his telekineses to catapult him up and out of danger after being shot.

Telekineses is supposed to have limits, he shouldnt be able to push himself like that unlimited or as fast as Nathan can fly......

He shouldn't have flight. He didnt take nathan's power, his genetic power. Even if the power COULD be transfered JUST by transfering brains? Then sylar should have all his normal abilities while in control of Parkman's body....

Uhhhhh....hello people! If he had empathy a couple of seasons ago, HE STILL HAS EMPATHY. He just doesn't use it because his normal method is quicker, takes less energy, and is generally funner for him. No big leap there...

You seriously believe he was empathizing with Nathan as he slit his throat?

It is a HUGE leap. He had empathy when he was trying to be good. When he is evil he has no empathy. Sadistic Killers do not connect with the people they kill. There is a severe disconnect.

How exactly did he get flight? What episode did he get in touch with someone's inner feelings who had flight?

The only person he ever connected with who had an ability was Elle. Electricity was the only ability he obtained through empathy, and probably will be the only ability he EVER obtains through empathy. You can't turn your empathy off and on like a switch when you want to obtain a power. Either you are an empath by nature, or train yourself to connect with someone on a deeper level as he did with Elle, because Sylar is NO empath, or you aren't.

Sylar falls into the 'aren't' category.

Gabriel has a CHANCE at becoming an empath. We haven't seen Gabriel since he burned Elle's corpse.

If you dont know Sylars original power is emphaty he just took intuitive aptitude from his father when he was kid and Elles power wasnt the only power he took by emphaty he also took puppet master power whithout killing him so I think he took flying from Nathan in last episode of season 3

Empathy same way he got Elle's power, regardless if good or evil he can take it either way it just depends on his mood sort of. And obviously it takes more effort to take a power through empathy but it's well worth it DEPENDING on what power and from who. In the chronically order he took power through empathy are: Lightning (elle), Sleep precog/dream manipulation(mama petrelli), Shape shifting (w/e his name), and finally Flying (nathan). The scene of where Sylar and Danko first met involving with the taxi cab, pouring rain, etc. Sylar was never in the car he used Mama petrelli's power that he got through empathy. The thing you gotta catch on Sylar ever since he took powers through empathy is that; he had to have an EMOTIONAL attachment usually a strong one on the person who has it or the power itself. I'll go in order starting with Elle- Uh n/m this one is obvious... he just liked her and vice versa. As for Mama Petrelli, Sylar was convinced that she was his mother and when Mama Petrelli and Sylar was in a coma that was where the empathy took place to take mama petrelli's power. As for Shapeshifter guy(SSG), the conversation with Danko and Sylar when finding the SSG showed that SYLAR really wanted this power because his real power allows to already understand how people act and stuff like he was going all detective on SSG trying to understand him and how he works. The place where Sylar was about to rip open SSG skull to get his power, but Danko said can you take his power another way in which he did through empathy and it wasn't much work since he was already understanding how SSG is. NOW finally Nathan's flight. After obtaining Shape shifting combining it with the power to understand an object's past he easily understood the way Nathan works(his attitude his power, everything) You can also say that at that point he already got Nathan's power because he didn't really need to rip his skull because last episode of Villians Sylar started flying during the huge fight against Nathan + Peter. WE have scenes of where Sylar will still try to kill them his original way EVEN though he already got the power (Elle, Mama Petrelli, etc). The common thing that all of them had in common was that he had to have a strong emotional attachment to either the power or person. Hence Sylar as of now is one of the strongest people in the show lol.

Sylar can do either. Now with his ability to absorb DNA (Shapeshifting) and see an objects history. Which he intensely studied Nathan. He was able to use Nathan's ability.

                          Sylar didn't fly; Nathan did.
