goof about strange technology: mobiles ring while on silent :D

while watching this episode, the 2-3 times the mobiles (which this time strangely use Windows Mobile) notified about SMS, when we see the mobile screen the upper icon of the volume shows it is on Silent (speaker with X in front of it), how does it ring while on silent
